NINETEEN NINETY NINE

New Year’s Eve Y2K: It’s not the end of the world.

SHORT FILM, THRILLER/DARK COMEDY (2019)

Short Film (2019)
A young woman senses something sinister is happening at a party on New Years’ Eve 1999. Should she stay and hope she's wrong, or risk trying to get home at midnight? Amongst the hype of the new millennium and fear of the Y2K apocalypse, getting through the night is not going to be easy.

This short thriller follows the experience of two young women out on New Years Eve 1999. Written and directed by Grace Uther as a reaction to the continued existence of victim blaming culture; the film has screened to festival audiences around the world.

Nineteen Ninety Nine premiered at MonsterFest 2019, and has since played to genre and general audiences at Nightmares Film Festival, Melbourne Indie Film Festival and Sydney Underground Film Festival. It even screened at a Drive-In theatre in Texas for Austin After Dark Film Festival, where Grace Uther was awarded Best International Director. Nineteen Ninety Nine found a fitting home on female-centric streaming platform Femflix.
